Last year, Vivienne and I came to New York for a show of my collages, mounted by Ivan Karp of O K Harris Gallery. We enjoyed our time here so much that we accepted an opportunity that arose to move to Manhattan for the year. We're so glad we did. New York has been terrific for us. Upon arrival in February, I began work on wooden sculptures I'd first planned in 1966! Then I returned to painting. But it didn't come easily. I could no longer paint in the style I'd been using in the past. Something about New York changes an artist, and the work changes accordingly.
Three weeks ago, Rick Witter of O K Harris dropped by for a studio visit; then on Friday, Marilyn Gelfman Karp, Ethan Karp, and the crew at the gallery surprised me with an offer to hang some of my recent paintings…starting next week!
New Yorkers are the most welcoming and considerate people.
If you are free, please drop by the opening. My work will be hanging on The Projects Wall is in the rear of the gallery. Vivienne and I would love to see you.
