Martin Z. Margulies | The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse

O K Harris Gallery in New York has given me two shows in the past–collages in 2011 and small paintings in 2012. The gallery is closing this spring but before it closed, Martin Margulies, who owns and directs the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse in Miami, stopped in and purchased ten of my small paintings. Which makes me very happy because I like the company he keeps: Margulies owns Kiefer, Noguchi, Richard Serra, Tony Smith, Willem deKooning, Donald Judd, Kounellis, Eliasson, among others.

The works he purchased were all created in New York in 2012:

Kenneth Baker (San Francisco Chronicle) included Schumaker's show, "Years of Pretty" in his list of the Top 10 Shows of 2013: "Jack Fischer Gallery's inaugural show at its Potrero flats location reintroduced a San Franciscan in his 70s whose work earn him world recognition, were there any justice."

Schumaker's work is included in the collection of the Achenbach Foundation (Fine Arts Museum of San Franciso), Margulies Collection at the Warehouse; the Joslyn Art Museum; as well as the collections of painters Eric Fischl + April Gornik; television commentator Rachel Maddow + photographer Susan Mikula; gallerists Ivan Karp + Marilyn Gelfman Karp; novelist Isabel Allende; gallerist Martin Muller; and others.
